Advent for Your Personality Type:

A Guide to Meet Jesus How You’re Wired

Slowing down, waking up, and making room for Jesus in a noisy world.

In a city that never slows down, Advent is the church’s ancient invitation to wait, listen, and look for Jesus again. Before we rush to Christmas, we pause together as a church to remember that light comes into the darkness, not around it.

Each week of Advent, you’ll find a simple devotional, practices for different personality types, and ways to live awake to the presence of Jesus in daily life.

THIS WEEK'S ADVENT DEVOTIONAL

WHY ADVENT MATTERS

At Frontier, we’re building a Jesus-centered Rule of Life—a sustainable way of living that forms us over time into His likeness. That Rule of Life includes practices that shape how we abide with God, grow in Christlike character, live in community, and join God’s mission in the world.

Advent is one of the ways we step into that story together.

In the hurry and consumption of Los Angeles, Advent helps us:

  • slow down rather than speed up

  • bring our real disappointments and longings to Jesus

  • remember that God’s story is bigger than our schedules

  • live as a people of hope, peace, joy, and love in the middle of the city

We believe mission isn’t an add-on to the Christian life. It is the natural overflow of lives rooted in the presence of God, shaped by the Word, and empowered by the Spirit. Advent trains our hearts to live that way.

ADVENT FOR DIFFERENT PERSONALITY TYPES

Advent for Every Kind of Person

Not everyone enters Advent the same way. Some of us love quiet reflection. Others come alive at a party. Some want to read and think. Others want to get moving and doing.

Advent is for all of us. Here are four broad “ways of being” to help you see how Advent might meet you:

Reflective / Interior Types
Introspective, deep feelers, drawn to quiet and depth.

-Strong seasons: Advent, Lent

-Growth edge: Celebration, joy in community

-Advent invitation: Don’t withdraw too far. Let a few trusted people into your inner world.

Action-Oriented / Driven Types
Doers, builders, planners, problem-solvers.

-Strong seasons: Pentecost, Ordinary Time

-Growth edge: Rest, stillness, waiting

-Advent invitation: Practice holy delay. Resist the urge to fix everything and let Jesus meet you in the pause. (Coming Soon)

Relational / Celebratory Types

-Strong seasons: Christmas, Easter, gatherings

You don’t have to do everything.

Pick the one or two practices that actually help you stay awake to Jesus in your real life.
