[Listen to this Week’s Message]

Opening Prayer

“Jesus, thank You that because of You our past is redeemed, our present is protected, and our future is secure. Help us trust You in the chaos, face suffering with courage, and live faithfully in light of the future You have promised. Amen.”

Opening Connection

  • What is something that helps you feel secure when life feels uncertain?

  • When you think about the future, what most often comes to mind?

Excitement?

Fear?

Hope?

Anxiety?

Trust?

  • What helps you regain perspective when life feels overwhelming?

  • Who is someone you've met that seemed to carry an unusual peace in difficult circumstances? What stood out about them?

Sunday’s Message Summary

Many people approach Revelation looking for timelines, charts, and predictions.

But Revelation was not primarily written to satisfy our curiosity about the future.

It was written to form faithful disciples in the present.

In Revelation 7, John sees a vision of God's people standing securely before the throne.

He sees people from every tribe, tongue, people, and nation gathered around the Lamb.

He sees people who have endured suffering and come through tribulation.

And he sees a future where God Himself wipes away every tear.

The message is simple:

Because of Jesus:

• Our past is redeemed.
• Our present is protected.
• Our future is secure.

That changes how we live right now.

Discussion

1. Because Our Past Is Redeemed, We Can Live Secure In The Chaos

The sermon emphasized that Christian security begins with what Jesus has already done.

Why do you think we often look for security in circumstances, success, finances, or control instead of Christ?

What does it mean to build your security on redemption rather than circumstances?

How does remembering what Jesus has done for you affect your anxiety about the future?

The multitude in Revelation 7 worships because of what God has already done.

How does gratitude strengthen faith?

2. Because Our Present Is Protected, We Can Face Suffering With Courage

The people in Revelation 7 are described as those who have come through tribulation.

What stood out to you about that image?

The sermon suggested:

"God's protection does not always mean removal from suffering. Often it means His presence in suffering."

Why is that distinction important?

John Lennox argues that removing God does not remove suffering—it only removes hope.

How does Christianity uniquely respond to the reality of suffering?

Have you experienced God's presence in a difficult season?

What helped you trust Him?

What fear, challenge, or uncertainty do you need to entrust to God right now?

3. Because Our Future Is Secure, We Can Live Faithfully Today

Revelation 7 ends with the promise that God will wipe away every tear.

How does knowing the end of the story change the way we live today?

The sermon described Christians as people who "remember the future."

What do you think that means?

Pastor Son forgave and adopted the man who murdered his sons.

Why is that story so powerful?

Why does forgiveness often feel impossible?

How does a secure future free us to forgive, sacrifice, serve, and love others now?

Where is God inviting you to live differently because of the future He has promised?

4. The Difference Jesus Makes

The big idea of the sermon was:

Because of Jesus:

• My past is redeemed.
• My present is protected.
• My future is secure.

Which of those truths do you most need to remember right now?

Why?

How would your week look different if you truly believed that statement?

What is one area where you need to trust Jesus more deeply?

THIS WEEK'S PRACTICE

1. Remember God's Faithfulness

Take a few minutes this week to write down ways God has provided, protected, forgiven, or sustained you.

Let God's faithfulness in the past strengthen your trust today.

2. Bring One Fear To Jesus

Identify one fear, burden, or uncertainty you're carrying.

Pray about it each day this week and intentionally surrender it to God.

3. Practice One Backwards Kingdom Act

Choose one intentional act that reflects the way of Jesus:

• Forgive someone.
• Serve someone.
• Encourage someone.
• Show kindness where it isn't deserved.

Live this week in light of the future God has promised.

Final Encouragement

Revelation 7 reminds us that before the chaos ever arrived, God had already secured His people.

Because of Jesus:

Your past is redeemed.

Your present is protected.

Your future is secure.

So live secure in the chaos.

Face suffering with courage.

And live faithfully in light of the future God has promised.

Prayer

Pray for one another specifically in areas of:

• fear and anxiety
• suffering and hardship
• trust in God's protection
• courage in difficult circumstances
• forgiveness and faithfulness
• hope for the future

Ask God to help each person remember that their past is redeemed, their present is protected, and their future is secure in Christ.
