LEARNING TO LIVE FREE
A Journey Through Exodus
Welcome to the Fall Community Group Guides
The book of Exodus begins with a people who need to be set free.
Israel is trapped under Pharaoh, living under a system that tells them who they are, what they are worth, and how their lives will be spent. God hears their cries, comes near, and leads them out.
But getting Israel out of Egypt is only the beginning.
God also has to get Egypt out of Israel.
They have to learn a new way to live. A new way to trust. A new identity. New practices. And, above all, how to live in the presence of the God who has rescued them.
That makes Exodus remarkably relevant to our lives.
We may not live under Pharaoh, but all of us are being shaped by something. We carry stories about who we are. We look to things to save us. We develop habits that form us. We struggle to trust God when life feels uncertain.
Jesus doesn't simply want to forgive us. He wants to make us free.
And freedom is something we learn to live in.
COMMUNITY IS WHERE WE PRACTICE
Each week, our Community Groups take the Sunday teaching into the rest of the week.
We gather around a table, open Scripture, share our lives, practice the way of Jesus, and make space for the Holy Spirit together.
These guides aren't meant to recreate Sunday's sermon or give your group another Bible lecture. They're designed to help us ask:
What is God saying to us?
What is happening in our lives?
How might Jesus be inviting us to respond?
And then we practice together.
HOW TO USE THIS GUIDE
Each week will generally include:
GATHER
Share food, slow down, and pay attention to one another.
SCRIPTURE
Return to the biblical story behind Sunday's teaching.
CONVERSATION
Move beyond information into honest reflection about our actual lives.
PRACTICE
Take one simple, concrete step toward living the way of Jesus.
PRAYER
Make space to listen, respond, pray for one another, and welcome the presence of the Holy Spirit.
Don't feel pressure to finish every question.
The goal isn't to complete the guide. The goal is formation.
If your group gets into a meaningful conversation, stay there. If someone needs prayer, pray.
