Frontier Children’s Ministry Director (posted May 2023)

This is a flexible, part-time position.

The Children’s Ministry Director is responsible for building a team that leads and executes Children’s ministry by inspiring others to serve in Frontier Children’s Ministry (“Frontier Arrows”).

Our children's ministry provides relevant, age-appropriate learning and connection opportunities for kids from birth through 6th grade. Frontier Arrows is dedicated to partnering with parents to help raise children to have a strong relationship with Jesus, rooted in their identities as children of God, and empowered to live by the Holy Spirit. 

This role with foster an environment conducive to excellence and safety in the children’s ministry.  Additionally, you will invest in the development and leadership of other volunteers and potentially future staff. Furthermore, this role will oversee volunteer coordination of all Sunday volunteers, as well as orientation and training that includes appropriate placement of volunteers based on their personal gifts and passions.

What You'll Do

  • Make sure Leaders and rooms are set up and ready to serve on the weekends.

  • Connect with volunteers and leaders weekly via phone call or in-person.

  • Help ensure the overall operations of the weekend are meeting all expectations.

  • Oversee volunteer orientation and training that includes appropriate placement of volunteers.

  • Maintain a positive environment to establish excellence in the ministry.

  • Communicate daily with the Senior Pastors.

  • Balance tasks and relational aspects of the role.

  • Lead day-to-day operations of the ministry.

  • Recruit people through the vision of Frontier Arrows.

Skills Needed to Succeed

  • Must exemplify a high level of passion for sharing Frontier’s vision with our community.

  • Facilitate ongoing training and coaching for volunteers.

  • Ability to stay organized and can maintain administrative duties.

  • Clearly understand all children’s and youth programs and curriculums, systems and processes, policies and procedures related to volunteerism, partnering with parents, and Next Steps for families through the ministries of Frontier.

  • Knowledge of Planning Center, and online management systems is a plus.

  • Effective at conflict management, time management, and coaching skills.

  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

  • Experience in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint.

  • Exceptional problem-solving skills.

  • Maintain composure during stressful situations.

  • High school diploma or GED and college degree, as well as 3+ years experience working with children or relevant ministry experience.

  • This is a flexible, 15-20 hour/week position with possibilities of increasing hours based on willingness to wear multiple hats in our small but growing team.

  • In person meeting required only one day per week.

  • Casual dress and work environment.

  • Your presence at Sunday worship is essential to set the atmosphere & culture of our children’s ministry! We ask that you are with the children during the service 3 of 4 Sundays a month, and that you do not miss more than 6 Sundays a year.

  • Vacation and time off is negotiable!

  • Hourly rate is negotiable based on experience.
